where to stay
Your team is responsible for arranging its own accommodation for the Friday and Saturday or Sunday nights, if required. We recommend booking accommodation for the Monster Bike & Hike early, to ensure you have the best night’s sleep possible before and after the challenge.
All accommodation can be booked through Visit Scotland who will be able to search for the most suitable location and price for you. Contact www.visitscotland.com or on 0845 2255121.
For block bookings - try the Highlands Tourist Board Convention Bureau 01997 423033.
10% off accommodation with SYHA
To help make sure you’re well rested during the weekend, we’ve teamed up with the Scottish Youth Hostels Association(SYHA) for a fantastic promotion.
Between Friday 4th and Sunday 6th May, participants can get a 10% discount off rooms at Glencoe, Glen Nevis, Loch Ness, and Inverness Youth Hostels.
To take advantage of this offer, reserve your accommodation with SYHA before 31st March, quoting promotional code MAG2012. Bookings can be made online at www.hostellingscotland.com; by e-mailing reservations@syha.org.uk; or by calling the reservations team on 0845 293 73 73.
On the Friday night before the event you will obviously want to stay as near to the start as possible – near Banavie (three miles outside Fort William) or in Fort William itself. This is a very busy area for walkers and there are other events on during the weekend of Monster so we recommend you book some accommodation as soon as possible.
If you can’t stay in Fort William, don’t panic. There are plenty of other options within 5 - 10 miles of Fort William which you could choose from.
Depending on which distance you are doing, you will not need a bed on Saturday night as you will be walking! If you are doing Bronze or Silver you will finish on Sat afternoon/evening so choose the location nearest to your finish for your accommodation.
Depending on how far you have to travel home and how much sleep your support team/drivers have had, we recommend that you do not head off on Sunday morning straight away – please plan your journey home safely.
